Watch the video for the song’s Alternate Mix, as Led Zeppelin IV and Houses Of The Holy are reissued.
WITH A REISSUE OF LED ZEPPELIN IV out today, October 27, the ’70s rock titans have popped a video for a previously unheard version of Rock And Roll.
The Alternate Mix of the song is included on the Deluxe Edition’s second disc, which features unreleased music related to the album.
“As a song, it was actually kind of punky, pre-punk,” said John Paul Jones of the new version of Rock And Roll. “It was really fast too, on stage anyway. It just got really quick, a lot of energy. It’s a lot of fun to play. The crowd loved it. We loved it.”
Jimmy Page, who has remastered the new editions of Led Zeppelin IV (1971) and Houses Of The Holy (1973), also released today, added: “Rock And Roll has just got that cheeky energy about. It’s a party. ‘It’s been a long time since I rock and rolled.’ It says it all really. It’s great lyrics and it’s a great performance.”
You can watch the new video, which has been pieced together using classic concert footage, below.
