Surprise! J.K. Rowling Will Release A New ‘Harry Potter’ Story On Halloween

Dolores Umbridge returns!

One of the wickedest witches in “Harry Potter” lore is about to make a comeback.
No, this is not a trick: J.K. Rowling is one week away from releasing a new story set in the world of “Harry Potter,” just in time for Halloween. The story will run on Pottermore.com, and it’s all about nasty witch and former Hogwarts headmistress Dolores Umbridge, the devil in a pink dress that tortured Harry all throughout his fifth year at the school of witchcraft and wizardry.

According to the announcement, the new tale will clock in at 1,700 words, chronicling a rich “back story about Umbridge’s life filled with many new details, as well as Rowling’s revealing first-person thoughts and reflections about the character.”

“Umbridge is not only one of the most malicious Potter characters,” states the Pottermore.com announcement, “she is the only person other than Lord Voldemort to leave a permanent physical scar on Harry.”
Expect the Umbridge story to land on Pottermore.com on October 31. How’s that for a Halloween treat, “Potter” heads?
