Filled Under: Rumors 'n' News
The Avett Brothers have just released their latest music video — a striking visual to accompany a striking tune. ‘Bring Your Love to Me’ comes from the band’s most recent album, ‘Magpie and the Dandelion.’ The video for the fragile, haunting ballad is a beauty in and of itself. Created by Hobey Ford, the visuals incorporate the ancient art of shadow puppetry to create a unique and somewhat eerie mood.
“Hobey created each of the puppets from poster board — jointing them by attaching horizontal rods — sometimes five or more rods were held together like chopsticks,” the band explained on their website. “Some of the characters are represented by several different puppets; each feather on the soaring magpie puppet is jointed individually. The puppets are lit from behind a translucent screen so the shadows are visible.” The puppets were operated and filmed in real-time.
And for extra credit, the song will be featured in tonight’s (Oct. 28) episode of ‘The Originals’ on the CW.
Produced by Rick Rubin and released over a year ago, ‘Magpie and the Dandelion’ debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard charts in its first week of release, and has been heralded as the band’s finest effort to date.
