Lionsgate wants Jeff Daniels to join final Divergent movies

Shooting for the third instalment of the Divergent franchise begins next month and Jeff Daniels could be part of it.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor is in talks with Lionsgate about boarding Allegiant Part 1 and Allegiant Part 2 as the leader of the Bureau of Genetic Welfare.

nsurgent director Robert Schwentke is returning for Part 1, which continues the story of Tris (Shailene Woodley), who lives in a future state where civilisation is split into five different factions. A director for Part 2 is yet to be confirmed.

Divergent and recent sequel Insurgent have already grossed over $550 million worldwide.

Allegiant Part 1 is set for release on March 18, while Allegiant Part 2 will follow a year later.

Daniels will next been seen in Ridley Scott's The Martian, which opens on November 25.
