One lucky fan will shell out some big bucks for the orange 1993 Toyota Supra
Throughout its seven-film run, the “Fast and Furious” franchise has given screen time to an array of fancy, expensive, cool-looking cars. But for devout fans of the series, one of the most indisputably iconic ones is Paul Walker’s 1993 Toyota Supra from the 2001 original film.
You know the one — coated in an orange exterior and driven fearlessly by Walker’s Brian Conner as he and Dom race against a train in the film’s breathtaking and pivotal final scene.
Now, one lucky person will claim that car as their own and drive fast and furiously away, in the same seat Walker once sat in. Mecum Auctions is auctioning off the vehicle at its Indy 2015 event, taking place May 12-17 in Indianapolis. According to the listing, the car boasts a 5-speed manual transition, 2JZ-GE 3.0L/220 HP inline-6 engine, roll cage, and twin Holley Performance nitrous oxide bottles mounted in the rear compartment
All that fancy car talk throw you for a loop? Then you might not be the ideal candidate to take the steering wheel. After all, this really isn’t a sale for the casual auto fan — it’s expected to sell for anywhere between $150,000 and $200,000.
Hopefully the new owner will be a fan of the franchise who appreciates the significance of the sale and won’t let it rust away in a shed somewhere. Then again, we wouldn’t be surprised if Walker’s on- and off-screen pal Vin Diesel ended up driving away with the keys. Now THAT would really be something.
